A bucks party is a party held for the Buck (groom) usually the bachelor is given a party before his wedding, usually to give him a last chance to do things he knows his fiancé wouldn’t be happy about, or more likely, to hang out with his buddies (who themselves are often members of the wedding party.)
This party is like none other. It usually goes over the top and includes things not seen at the usual party or social gathering (often there is too much alcohol and, today, lots of gambling.) It may also include a trip to a local strip club or even bringing a stripper to the location of the party. Some people have traditions that mimic fraternity hazing and they play pranks on the future groom, all of which goes to show that the whole ritual is also a rite of passage from being a carefree bachelor (and its often adolescent lifestyle, usually shared with most of the party-goers, e.g., their college days) to being a more responsible member of a married couple.
